New Required Data Fields on Building Permit Application

The Department of Buildings last week announced new required data fields on building permit applications. Effective immediately, the online building permit application for E-Plan will include the following required data fields:
  • What is the current zoning use of the building?
  • What is the proposed zoning use of the building?
  • Is the proposed zoning use being expanded by area?
Applications must also include a Chicago Building Code, as well as a Zoning Ordinance Matrix on the cover sheet or the second sheet in the plan set. The matrix identifies the relevant code criteria for the project, which helps examiners perform reviews faster. To process building permit applications quickly and efficiently, it is important to have all necessary project information, including land use, on the application at the time of submission.
