Real estate professionals looking to apply for a license or transfer an existing license may now do so online. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) recently unveiled the new online licensing service through its
Online Services Portal.
The Online Services Portal is available to managing brokers, brokers, leasing agents and brokerage firms (corporations, LLCs, LLPs, partnerships and sole proprietors). Managing Brokers may also manage their license sponsorships via IDFPR’s Online Services Portal to easily verify license sponsorship, via
IDFPR’s improved License Lookup.
How It Works
Applicants may enter all required information, including supplemental documents, electronically. Once submitted, applicants may monitor their application status online as it moves through IDFPR’s review process. Licensee transactions through the online services portal will be processed within days, rather than the weeks that mailing in documents and payment could take previously.
The move to an online, paperless licensure is part of ongoing efforts to modernize state services.
If you’re an individual applying for an initial real estate brokerage license or transferring a license from one firm to another, you may do so by
visiting IDFPR’s online initial application portal.
Licensed real estate brokers who need to renew their license before the April 30 deadline should visit the department’s
license renewal page.
