Housing Trends on Horizon for 2015

Whether they’re about design, convenience or bringing calm to our frenzied lives, these hot housing trends are ready to make their mark in 2015. REALTOR® Magazine released a list of future trends, including: Coral shades – A reflection of people’s optimism, coral shades are expected to make a splash in the new year. Open spaces go mainstream – Open floor plans are coming to traditional condo buildings and single-family suburban homes in 2015. Keyless entry – Builders will start to switch to biometric fingerprint door locks with numerical algorithms entered in a database. Outdoor living – Interest in spending time outdoors will continue to grow, and enhancements will become more popular, such as outdoor showers adjacent to pools and hot tubs. Freestanding tubs – Freestanding tubs will gain in popularity as a sculptural centerpiece. Of course, they are not friendly to those who may find it difficult to climb in and out. Charging stations – Although separate office space is becoming less popular, homeowners will continue to need a dedicated space in the kitchen or other location to charge devices. Cool copper – The 2015 “it” metal is copper. Look for it to be used to exude industrial warmth in large swaths or minimally in a few backsplash tiles. Peruse other trends that made the list here.
