Chicago Association of REALTORS® Welcomes Tommy Choi as 2019 President

The Chicago Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) welcomes Tommy Choi of Keller Williams Chicago – Lincoln Park as its 2019 President for a one-year term, beginning today. He was installed on September 12, 2018 at the Association’s 135th Annual Inaugural Gala, the premier night for Chicago real estate. Choi is C.A.R.’s first Korean-American President. At the Gala, Choi expressed his excitement in helping his fellow REALTORS® overcome challenges and exceed expectations by encouraging them to:
  • Become involved in C.A.R.’s committees and work groups.
  • Stay learning-based.
  • Get surrounded by Industry Partners and those who encourage growth, success, and adherence to the Code of Ethics.
  • Remain fair to and inclusive of all people.
  • Be grateful.
  • Dream bigger.
Choi attributes his success, including his appointment as president, to his career-long commitment to these principles and the support from his loved ones and colleagues. In 2007, Choi co-founded Weinberg Choi Realty with business partner Josh Weinberg. In 2015, he went on to found Keller Williams Chicago – Lincoln Park with partners Weinberg, Joe Zimmerman and Mary Haight, applying his extensive knowledge from growing up in Chicago’s Mayfair, North Shore, and Lakeview neighborhoods and successful marketing career with CDW. For his leadership and innovation in the community, Choi was honored as “Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2013 by the Women’s Council of REALTORS® and with the C.A.R. “Community Service Award” in 2014. Choi is engaged in a wide range of real estate organizations. In addition to his role on C.A.R.’s Board of Directors, Choi is also actively engaged with the Chicago Community Trust “On the Table” program, the Development Board for the Academy for Global Citizenship, Asian Real Estate Association of America and the Women’s Council of REALTORS®. Previously, Choi was the Chairman for C.A.R.’s Young Professionals Network (YPN) and the former Associate Board VP of Chicago Gateway Green. “Part of our strategic plan moving forward and our promise to you all,” Choi says, “is to continue to protect [our community and network of people that are going to push you to be better], widen the funnel [and] be inclusive…to make sure we are raising the bar as an industry and being the ‘Voice of Real Estate®’ in Chicago.” Choi’s dedication aligns with C.A.R.’s goal of ensuring all REALTORS® and private property owners are educated, heard, represented and celebrated throughout Chicago’s 77 neighborhoods.
