The Good Neighbor Awards were created to encourage rehabilitation and redevelopment in Chicago’s neighborhoods and to showcase ground-breaking rehabs and development in the Chicago metropolitan area. The award has also been given for salvaging historical properties, rescuing architecturally significant buildings from the wrecking ball, and tackling stigmatized properties. The Good Neighbor Awards recognize properties that offer unique amenities and bonus facilities, often strengthening community pride. Developers that take special care to “fit in” with the neighborhood also qualify for Good Neighbor Awards. This highly anticipated event draws approximately 250 attendees.
