Crain's Chicago Business
Eddie Baeb is a real estate reporter at Crain's Chicago Business who writes for the magazine and ChicagoRealEstateDaily.com. Mr. Baeb joined Crain's on the real estate beat in October 2006, his second stint with the magazine. He covered retail at Crain's from fall 1999 through 2001, during which time he wrote about the difficulty Sears was having finding a new CEO/savior (sound familiar?), and also broke the news that Montgomery Ward & Co. was going out of business.
Mr. Baeb worked as a public finance reporter (exploring the wild, wild world of municipal bonds) from 2002-2006 at Bloomberg News in Boston and Chicago. He began his career at two daily newspapers, the Joliet Herald-News and Daily Southtown, after receiving an undergraduate degree in journalism from Drake University in 1994.
Mr. Baeb calls his hometown Waupaca, Wis., though he spent much of his childhood growing up on Army bases - including five years at Fort Sheridan. He now lives in Berwyn with his wife, Julie, and two young daughters.
