G. Joseph Cosenza to be Inducted into Chicago Association of REALTORS® Hall of Fame

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 29, 2011

The Chicago Association of REALTORS® will induct real estate legend G. Joseph Cosenza into the Chicago Association of REALTORS® Hall of Fame. Cosenza, Vice Chairman and a Director of The Inland Real Estate Group, Inc. and President of Inland Real Estate Acquisitions, Inc., will be honored for his achievements at the association’s 128th Inaugural Gala, to be held on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Grand Ballroom of Navy Pier.

“The Hall of Fame recognizes professionals who serve as superlative role models for their peers and for future generations entering real estate careers. Joe is an icon of success who has earned a reputation built on hard work, fair dealing and support of his community,” said C.A.R. President Mabel Guzman, REALTOR® with Envision Real Estate.”

Cosenza is one of the four original founders of The Inland Real Estate Group, Inc. Cosenza has held his real estate broker’s license since 1968. As President of Inland Real Estate Acquisitions, Inc., he currently supervises an extensive staff engaged in property acquisitions and due diligence. Also a consultant to other real estate entities and lending institutions, Cosenza has personally overseen, and or negotiated, the purchases of more than $33 billion of income-producing real estate, in over 2,700 individual deals, for Inland.

Prominent in the banking industry since 1982, Cosenza was a Director of Continental Bank of Oakbrook Terrace and Chairman of the Board of American National Bank of DuPage. He served as Chairman and a Director of Inland Bank & Trust and as a Director on the Board of Inland Bancorp.

Cosenza earned his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern Illinois University and master’s degree from Northern Illinois University. Initially, he was a teacher and an assistant principal while operating Inland on a part-time basis with Messrs. Dan Goodwin, Bob Baum and Bob Parks.

A former Director and member of the management committee of Inland Real Estate Corporation (NYSE: IRC), where he helped to ring the New York Stock Exchange bell instead of a school bell, Joe’s career also spans activity with the Chicago Association of REALTORS®, the National Association of REALTORS®, Urban Land Institute and the Northern Illinois Commercial Association of REALTORS®.

“We are proud to recognize Joe Cosenza for his accomplishments and his contributions to the Chicago real estate landscape,” said C.A.R. CEO Ginger Downs. “He will be a valuable and fitting addition to the Chicago Association of REALTORS® Hall of Fame.”

The C.A.R. 128th Inaugural Gala will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Grand Ballroom of Navy Pier. For ticket and sponsorship details, visit ChicagoREALTOR.com/Events.
