Course Description

Real estate salespersons are independent sales workers who provide their services to a licensed real estate broker on a contract basis. In return, the broker pays the agent a portion of the commission earned from the salespersons sale of the property. Who needs a license? 45 hours of instruction in an approved real estate pre-license course which includes a minimum of 15 hours on Article 15 of the Act (agency), disclosure and environmental issues, or any other current topic as determined by the Education Advisory Council are required for licensure. The real estate sales person class, also known as the real estate agent class covers the following topics:
Definition of Real Property; Encumbrances; Real Estate Closings; Fair Housing Acts; Interest in Real Estate; Contracts; Real Estate Brokerage; Mathematics; Transfer of Title/Title Records; IL Real Estate License Act; Ownership; Leasehold Estates; Property Management; Legal Descriptions; Appraising; Financing.

Requirements
Licensing Requirements:
- Be at least 21 years old;
- Have graduated from high school or obtained the equivalent of a high school degree (GED);
- Have successfully completed the 45-class-hour Real Estate Transactions course at a real estate school approved by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
